Unlock.fit reduced onboarding drop-off with step-by-step nudges that guide users from DNA test to personalised plan
Digia Engage powers a multi-step onboarding progress tracker, plan discovery widgets, and meal tracking nudges, all configured from the dashboard.
About Unlock.fit
Unlock.fit combines DNA testing and blood biomarker analysis to create personalised nutrition plans. The platform serves users managing diabetes, fatty liver, PCOS, weight loss, and sports performance, with plans ranging from INR 2,999 to INR 17,999.
- DNA-based personalised nutrition and health plans
- Programmes for diabetes, PCOS, weight loss, and sports performance
- In-app diet plans with recipes, expert consultations, and progress tracking
The Challenge
Unlock.fit's user flow has a lot of steps: health quiz, plan selection, DNA kit order, sample collection, lab processing, results review, plan activation, and ongoing tracking. Users frequently dropped off between steps because the app did not remind them what to do next.
- Every nudge required native development. The engineering team was focused on the health tracking and recommendation engine.
- New plan types each required dedicated screens, even though it was mostly a content and layout change
- Seasonal campaigns needed dev cycles to update the app
The Solution
- Multi-step onboarding sequence: after ordering a DNA kit, the app showed a progress tracker as an inline widget. At each stage, a contextual nudge appeared with the next action.
- Plan discovery widgets on the home screen that update when new programmes launch, going live as inline cards without an app release
- Meal tracking bottom sheet nudge: when a user views a recipe but does not log the meal, a gentle prompt reminds them. After seven days, a celebration nudge appears.
- Health tip widgets surfacing blog posts and nutrition advice based on the user's active plan
Impact & Results
- Onboarding drop-off reduced — step-by-step nudges guide users through every stage from kit order to plan activation
- New plan types launch from the dashboard — configured as content, not as native screens
- Meal tracking prompts and streak celebrations — keep users engaged with their daily plans
- Contextual guidance at every stage — without the product team waiting on engineering
